Meet The Team


Ian Bellis BVM&S Cert AVP(ESO) MRCVS
Ian qualified from Edinburgh in June 2006 and has been working with horses ever since – first in the New Forest, then at a Hospital in Sussex and latterly in East Sussex. He worked at the Olympics in 2012 as part of the Vet Team. He passed his orthopaedic surgery certificate in 2015.


James Hopkins BVSc Cert AVP(ESO) MRCVS
James qualified from Sydney in January 2007 and worked in ambulatory practice in Australia. On returning to the UK he completed an internship at House and Jackson in Essex. He has been an ambulatory vet in East Sussex since then. He also passed his orthopaedic surgery certificate in 2015.


Maciej Bednarski PHD MRCVS
Maciej joined the Equicall team in January 2020 and helps to cover the South East Region.
He graduated in 2006 and has worked primarily with horses since – including an internship in Vienna, and then extended periods in Wales and Kent.
In his spare time Maciej enjoys the outdoors, exploring the Kent countryside with his wife and dog Caribou, cycling and occasionally clay shooting.


Kristina Chapman DVM MRCVS
Kristina joined the Equicall team in January 2020 and helps to cover the South-East region.
She qualified in 2016 and subsequently undertook an internship in equine diagnostic imaging at a private practice in Florida before moving to the UK in 2017 to work for a large equine clinic in Kent.
She is currently studying toward a Certificate in Advanced Equine Practice at the University of Liverpool.
Outside of work, Kristina enjoys clay shooting and walking her two spotted spaniels, Jagger and Farrah. She also enjoys running and recently qualified as a guide runner for the visually impaired with British Athletics.


Danny Chambers BVSc MSc MRCVS
Danny joined the Equicall team in July 2020 and helps to cover the South West region. He qualified in 2008 and after a stint in mixed practice became an equine locum, working for different practices across the country including a longer period near Aberdeen. He has also spent time at Edinburgh and Bristol university. Out of work, Danny sits on the RCVS council and is a trustee for Vetlife, as well as having a small online following.


Martin Rybar
Veterinary Surgeon
Martin qualified in Slovakia in 2007. He has had a very international career since then, working in a variety of equine clinics in the USA, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Ireland and the UK. Martin joined the Equicall team in August 2021 and is based in the South West.


Marta Ferrari
Veterinary Surgeon
Martaqualified in Italy in 2004. She then joined an intern programme at the RVC in London. Following that she worked in general equine practice and more recently worked with the charity SPANA, helping teams of vets in treat horses in developing countries. Marta joined the team in August 2021 and is based in the South.


Olivia Cromer
Veterinary Surgeon
Olivia graduated from The University of Bristol in 2011 and went on to complete an equine internship at Endell Veterinary Hospital. She has been in equine practice since and has spent a stud season working for Scone Equine Hospital in New South Wales, Australia. Her particular interest is internal medicine. She joined the Equicall team in June 2021 and works in the central South region.


Leire Ruiz
Leire qualified in 2002 and has worked in equine practice in the UK for the majority of time since then. She gained her certificate in Advanced Equine Practice in 2011. She joined Equicall in September 2020 and will be based in West Sussex.


Adam Kruydenberg
Veterinary Surgeon
Adam qualified in 2016 from Bristol University. After working for a period in Kent and then Australia, he moved back to the South West. He joined us in October 2020 and is working towards a Certificate in Advanced practice. Adam is also interested in how technology may be used in aspects of veterinary medicine. In his spare time he enjoys running and rock climbing.


Lucy Collins
Veterinary Surgeon
Lucy graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2015 and has worked solely in an equine practice since. She spent the first two years of her career at a busy equine practice in Warwickshire with a predominantly sporthorse and stud caseload. Lucy then spent time specialising in stud medicine, and is working towards a Certificate in Advanced Practice in that area. She joined Equicall in October 2020 and will be working in the South West region. Outside of work Lucy enjoys taking part in triathalons, skiing & walking her dog.


Rachel Burgess
Veterinary Surgeon
Rachel graduated from Glasgow in 2010 and has worked in mixed practice and equine practice since then, including an equine internship in Liverpool and time in an equine hospital in Australia. Rachel has a certificate in equine surgery and orthopaedics. Rachel joined the team in early 2021 and works in and around the New Forest.


Soyoung Kwon
Veterinary Surgeon
Soyoung graduated from Seoul in 2008 before transferring to the States to undergo further study - initially completing a PhD and then eventually becoming a medicine diploma holder. Soyoung joined the team in June 2021 in the Berkshire region.


Sarah Kent MRCVS
Sara Kent joined us in September 2021 in the Shropshire region. She qualified from Bristol in 2005, first working in mixed practice and then in equine only practice in Scotland. Outside of work, Sara competes in canicross at a high level.
